Whether you plan on sticking close to home, or going on an adventure for this year's march break, the most important part is getting to spend quality time with those you love. A family getaway is always fun for building memories, but don't forget, this is something you can do from home as well. Here are a few tips on how to bond as a family during peak vacation season
1. Book it off
If Mom and Dad can, be sure to book the week off well in advance. It's a competitive time for vacations, and many offices have policies around having too many people on vacation at once. Be sure to secure your time off with the kids by booking early.
2. Plan ahead
It doesn't matter if you're going on vacation or simply planning a staycation, you want to fill those hours with fun activities to avoid the B word (BORED).
3. Save up a vacation fund
It's obviously better to have too much set aside than not enough, but vacations (and even staycations) can cost more than you might expect. Another way to save while on vacation is to pack lunches, stay a little way off the beaten path and to pack healthy snacks for between meals.
4. Keep it educational
March Break = no homework! This gives kids time to read the books they WANT to read, not the books they HAVE to read. And if they're not into reading, we're totally OK with upping the hours the kids spend with their toys during the week.
