Newborn babies tend to swallow air during feedings therefore, burping helps release some of that swallowed air. If the air is not released, it can lead to excess gas, spitting up, and a cranky baby. Excess air in the stomach causes your baby to feel full and stop eating too early. Burping your baby keeps him comfortable and allows him to consume a full meal.
