Selecta

Selecta began to produce wooden toys for nursery schools over 40 years ago. Names such as Fröbel and Maria Montessori have been our role-models.

From the first idea until their realization, Selecta toys are subjected to many tests. These tests are carried out together with the assistance and advice of experienced teachers, in families, nursery schools and playgroups. We procure the recommendations of teachers and parents before completing the development of a new Selecta toy. The focus during the development of Selecta toys and games is placed on high value playtime. Our products have very high expectations in order to animate the children into playing independently.

We can also look back on a long tradition of producing toys for toddlers; we consider and use all the knowledge we have collected in this time in the development of each toy.

Naturally made of wood...wood is a natural and wonderful raw material.

Wood is a natural, growing and living raw material whose warm surface imparts everything necessary to the sensual development of small children.

Wooden structures fire the imagination and impart a variety of impressions according to which sense is appealed to. Selecta´s toddler toys receive a supplementary finish with beeswax, making the surfaces silky soft. This natural aroma stimulates the development of the children´s senses.

Selecta products are predominently made from endemic woods. These are preferably hard woods such as maple because long life usage is then guaranteed. In order to maintain the ecological system of the forest, we are committed to sustainable forest management.

Safety:

Selecta toys are manufactured in compliance with current European and international standards. Our products are tested in accordance with the European standard for toys, from the earliest development phases through to their introduction to market. Our products are also tested by the TV Product Service for compliance with European Standard EN71 and are certified with the GS safety mark. Our products are also tested and certified to ensure compliance with US standard ASTM.

Surface finishing:

As a natural material, wood can be safely put into a child’s mouth. Selecta only uses environmentally-friendly and totally safe paints and lacquers which comply with EN71 and US safety standard ASTM.

We were one of the first manufacturers to provide our products with an additional coating of beeswax, which naturally finishes the surface with a very soft, velvety coating. Using a special transfer printing process, we are able to print colourful illustrations onto the wood itself. This process enables us to produce very bright and brilliant colours, as well as providing a strong scratch-resistant surface which can withstand saliva.
